Ordinance Authorizing an Amendment to the 2026 Annual Budget for the City of Joliet

BACKGROUND:
The City of Joliet adopted the 2026 Budget on December 16, 2025. The Joliet Fire Department received an Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Small Equipment Grant from the State of Illinois to fund the purchase of Turn Out Gear for fiscal year 2026 in the amount of $26,000.00. The legislative OSFM grant is managed as a reimbursement grant. The funding became available June 2026.
This item was reviewed at the Public Safety Committee Meeting held on August 4, 2026 and recommended to the full Council for approval.
CONCLUSION:
Adoption of the attached Ordinance will allow the City of Joliet to spend the reimbursement grant funds from the State of Illinois. The 2026 Annual Budget will be amended to increase the revenues and expenditures in the attached Ordinance.
