BACKGROUND:
The Chief of Police of the Joliet Police Department proposes an amendment to the City of Joliet Municipal Code Section19-150. This amendment aims to address issues related to the parking of trucks, semi-trailers, trailers, pole trailers, recreational vehicles, and buses on City streets. The purpose of this amendment is to clarify the definitions and regulations of trailer parking to ensure adequate management of street-parking and enhancing the safety and convenience for residents and visitors of the City.
The proposed amendment includes definition additions to ensure clarity within the Municipal Code. Definitions for “Trailer” and “Pole Trailer” are included to align the City of Joliet Municipal Code with the Illinois Vehicle Code. These additions will provide clearer definitions as to the types of vehicles included within the Ordinance and will aid in improving the management of street-parking within the City.
