Approval of Change Order No. 2 for the Reedwood Phase 3 Water Main Improvements Project on behalf of Len Cox & Sons Excavating for a Deduction in the Amount of ($794,771.29)

BACKGROUND:
On January 21, 2025, the Mayor and City Council awarded a Contract for the Reedwood Phase 3 Water Main Improvements Project, in the amount of $3,678,375.13, on behalf of Len Cox & Sons Excavating, based on the Unit Prices provided in their bid. Subsequently, Change Order No. 1, a zero cost, time extension change order was approved.
The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
This project has been completed, inspected, and accepted by the Department of Public Utilities. Change Order No. 2 is a final balancing change order with a net decrease in the amount of ($794,771.29) for the following work:
• Balancing of final quantities
• Deduction for unused quantities
• Unknown 8" sewer conflicts
• Unknown 60" sewer conflicts
• Inlet construction
• Repair existing 6" sanitary
• Install sanitary cleanout
Funds will be deducted as follows for this project: Water Main Replacement Fund / Construction (Org 53880000, Object 557200, ($556,208.43)) and Lead Water Service Line Replacement Fund / Construction (Org 53880000, 557200, ($238,562.86)).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve Change Order No. 2, for a decreased amount of ($794,771.29), to the contract for the Reedwood Phase 3 Water Main Improvements Project on behalf of Len Cox & Sons Excavating.
