BACKGROUND:
The purchase of a foreman truck for the Department of Public Utilities Sewer Division was included as part of the approved 2025 budget. This unit is not available for immediate purchase and will need to be ordered with an expected arrival date of late 2025.

The Public Service Committee will review this matter.

CONCLUSION:
Vehicle pricing was requested from nine (9) area Ford dealers for a Ford F550 cab chassis. Six (6) dealers provided quotes. Results are shown below:

* $73,509.00 - Ron Tirapelli Ford
* $73,646.00 - Sutton Ford
* $73,999.66 - Rod Baker Ford
* $75,100.66 - Greenway Ford
* $77,660.00 - Ziegler Ford
* $82,815.70 - D'Orazio Ford

To maintain service body consistency within the department, the service body will be purchased and installed by Knapheide Equipment Co. Chicago. Knapheide is a registered Municipal / Government supplier, and this purchase falls within those guidelines. Knapheide provided a quote in the amount of $37,218.71 to provide and install the service body.

Section 2-438 of the City of Joliet Code of Ordinances states that purchases whose estimated cost is in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) may be awarded without written specifications or bidding under certain circumstances. Two (2) of these circumstances apply:

c) Purchases of equipment which, by reason of training of City personnel or an inventory of replacement parts maintained by the City, are compatible with the existing equipment owned by the City;

f) Purchases when authorized by a concurring vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the Mayor and City Council.
