Resolution Authorizing the Sale of a Police Dog to the Family of K-9 Officer Daniel Willis

BACKGROUND:

Ady, a German Shephard, approximately 9 years old that had been assigned to Officer Daniel Willis, is being retired due to the death of his handler.  Due to the dog’s specialized police training, the dog should not be made available for purchase by the general public as surplus property.  The family of Officer Willis has requested that they be allowed to purchase the dog.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the resolution authorizing the sale of a police dog to the family of K-9 Officer Daniel Willis.
