BACKGROUND:
The Mayor and City Council previously approved the 2021 City of Joliet Budget. The Eastern Avenue / Washington Street Roadway Project - MFT Sect. No. 21-00535-00-FP is part of this budget. The project was advertised on Thursday, July 21, 2021. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
On August 9, 2021, at 10:00 A.M., three (3) sealed bids were received for the Eastern Avenue / Washington Street Roadway Project. The bid summary is as follows:

P.T. Ferro Construction Co. Rejected
Engineer’s Estimate $567,238.50
The bid from P.T. Ferro Construction Co. was rejected because the contractor did not provide unit price on all bid items.
*The bid from Len Cox & Sons Excavating was corrected from the as read amount of $798,599.00 to the calculated amount of $799,459.00.
The low bid by Austin-Tyler Construction, Inc., in the amount of $588,588.66, is 3.76% above the engineer’s estimate. Sufficient funds exist utilizing the Motor Fuel Tax Funds Maintenance / Repairs (Org 20090270, Object 557200, $387,661.16), the Water & Sewer Improvement Fund / Projects / Construction Water (Org 50180012, Object 557200, $200,927.50).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council award the Eastern Avenue/ Washington Street Roadway Project - MFT Section No. 21-00535-00-FP, in the amount of $588,588.66, on behalf of Austin-Tyler Construction, Inc.
