Award of Contract for the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Point Repairs Project - Various Locations to Brandt Excavating, Inc. in the amount of $134,780.61

BACKGROUND:
Sewer televising conducted in 2013 - 2019 identified sewer defects in various locations throughout the City. These defects, if not repaired, could lead to sewer blockages and basement back-ups. In addition, these defects prohibit the installation of sewer liners which will be installed in subsequent years to fully rehabilitate the sewer line. These locations will need to be excavated and repaired. The 2021 Sanitary Sewer Point Repairs Project - Various Locations includes ten (10) point repair locations. This sewer rehabilitation project was publicly advertised for bid in the Labor Record on Thursday, August 12, 2021. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
On Friday, August 27, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., five (5) sealed bids were received for the 2021 Sanitary Sewer Point Repair Project - Various Locations. The bid summary is as follows:

The low bid from Brandt Excavating Inc., in the amount of $134,780.61, is 43.2% below the engineer's estimate. Brandt Excavating Inc. has previously completed similar work for the City, and we are confident they will successfully complete this project. Funds will be charged to the Water & Sewer Improvement Fund / Projects / Construction (Org 50180020, Object 557200, Project Code 16088, $134,780.61).
