BACKGROUND:
For your consideration are the following positions and any resulting subsequent vacancies:
Fire - Captain (Position Code #6022): This vacancy is due to an upcoming retirement. The administration is requesting one (1) Captain position. This position is a skilled supervisory position which directs the activities of a fire company, has direct command over companies of firefighters located at fire houses, is responsible for proper maintenance of equipment, and assumes command at the scene of an emergency until relieved by a superior.
Fire - EMS Coordinator/Lieutenant (Position Code #6029): This vacancy is due to an upcoming retirement. The administration is requesting one (1) EMS Coordinator/Lieutenant position. This position directs and supervises the operations of the emergency medical services of the JFD.

It is recommended the Mayor and City Council authorize the City Manager to fill these positions as well as any subsequent vacancies that may occur.
