Amendment of Section 21-64 of the Code of Ordinances

BACKGROUND:
Section 21-64 restricts lewd or indecent conduct or articles. It primarily addresses appearing in a public place in a state of nudity. However, it also proscribes appearing in “dress not becoming to his or her sex.” This Ordinance originally appeared in the Code of Ordinances in 1939; society has since grown and evolved, and the Code of Ordinances should reflect that. The proposed amendment deletes the above quoted language.

It is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve the proposed amendment to the Code of Ordinances.
