BACKGROUND:
The City of Joliet has been approved to utilize Rebuild Illinois Bond Funds received from the State for the design and construction of Chicago Street from Jefferson Street to Webster Street. Items not eligible for Rebuild Illinois funding, including the decorative streetscape design elements and vaulted sidewalk stabilization design, will be paid for with local capital funds. The Public Service Committee will review this matter.
CONCLUSION:
The contract for design services was expanded to include advance design and bid documents for vaulted sidewalk stabilization. This work is critical for improved construction staging and to provide access management to affected businesses during the mainline roadway construction. Contract plans and documents for two advance contracts were developed and bid for vault and sidewalk work.
Sufficient funds exist utilizing Capital Funds / Chicago Street Streetscape Design Funds (Org 30020010, Object, 557200, $291,471.00).

Based on the above, it is recommended that the Mayor and City Council approve Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Engineering Services Contract for the Phase II Engineering for the Chicago Street (Jefferson - Webster) Streetscape Reconstruction Project, in the amount of $291,471.00, on behalf of Civiltech Engineering, Inc.
